Environmental Assessments for New Managed Haying and Grazing Provisions for Some Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Lands

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency (FSA) has prepared Environmental Assessments (EA) to evaluate the implementation of changes to managed haying and grazing provisions under the 2002 Farm Bill on CRP lands in the following States: Idaho, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The proposed changes include allowable frequencies of managed haying and grazing and changes to primary nesting season (PNS) dates, during which managed haying and grazing is not permitted.

The purpose of the EAs is to aid in providing USDA decision-makers and the public with an analysis of the environmental benefits and potential impacts associated with implementing various changes to managed haying and grazing and the development of implementing rules. The final EAs and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are available to the public for comment as described under the State links below.
